The property size is 76 acres in
_ size and is presently agricultural land. Mr. Scott requested that our office conduct a percolation
test to satisfy a requirement of the Environmental Health Department for siting a new residential
septic system.
The percolation test hole was located 150 feet east of the western property boundary and 1,438
feet from the northern property line. This location was determined by you to be near the site of
. the proposed septic system leach field.
The drilling of a twenty-five (25) foot deep percolation test boring was conducted on Friday July
29, 2005 using a truck-mounted deep rock drilling rig with a 4-inch diameter auger. The soils
were found to be brown silty clay from the surface to a depth of four feet followed by a brown
cemented sandy silt with clay to a depth of twenty-five feet. No ground water was encountered in
the hole.
Within the boring, an inch of"pea gravel" was placed in the bottom of the hole to stabilize the
side wall from caving and prevent erosion while filling the boring. A 2-inch diameter PVC pipe
with open ends and slots was placed in the hole. About 6-inches of pea gravel was placed in the
annular space around the pipe. The hole was pre-soaked 24 hours prior to the test with 12 inches
of water above the bottom of the hole.
During the percolation test, the fall of 6 inches of water was measured above the top of gravel
LODI ■ SACRAMENTO ■ MODESTO
" ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION 902 Industrial Way,Ia di,California 95240 0 209.367.3701 0 209.369.4228 fax 0 w .noanderson.com
