SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc (Live Oak) was contracted by Lillian Pendergrass to
conduct a Soil Suitability Study for her property located at 18930 East Kettleman Lane,
Lodi, California (Plate 1).
The Soil Suitability Study was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for
use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of
Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil
Suitability Study Requirements Checklist.
Proposed Development
The proposed project is a minor subdivision to split the Site into a five-acre homesite C,yJ
parcel and a 35-acre designated remainder (Plate 2). Ms. Pendergrass stated that she (1,40
intends to sell the designated remainder; the uses of the homesite parcel will remain
unchanged.
Site Description
The Site, Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) 053-150-18, is approximately 40 acres in
size. The Site consists of open land and a young olive orchard with a residence. A
domestic well supplies water to the residence, and an irrigation well provides water to l' -)
the orchard. A recent aerial photograph of the Site is included as Plate 3.
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 130 to 155 feet above mean sea level (Plate 4). The Site
topography is slightly hilly.
The San Joaquin County Community Development Department web site states that the
Site is zoned AG-40, general agriculture with a minimum parcel size of 40 acres. This
zoning designation "is established to preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of
commercial agricultural enterprises."
LOGE 1221 Page 1
