Goehring Property Page 6 of 10
Our Project Number: E07182A
November 30, 2007
Table 6.
Soil Boring Log Parcel 4.
Depth Interval (ft) Soil Type Unified Soil Classification
0-1' Brown sandy silt with clay Sm
1-2' Silty gravel with some cobbles Sm
Auger refusal
5.4 Discussion of Soil Lithology
A visual inspection of the soils from on-site drilling indicates little potential for percolation
because of the cemented gravels, cobbles and fine-grained nature of the soils. A percolation
test is the best method to determine the suitability of the soils for a septic disposal area. Please
see the next section for percolation test results. Generally speaking, coarser-grained soils have
much greater potential for percolation than fine-grained or cemented soils.
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
6.1 Percolation Test Locations
A site map indicating the locations of the percolation test holes is included Plate 1 in the
appendix of this report.
6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
Two (2) percolation tests were conducted on each parcel of the Site for a total of eight (8)
percolation tests conducted on the property.
6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
Eight soil borings were advanced on the property with both a shallow hand auger and a truck
mounted deep rock augur rig on December15, 2007.
A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of "pea gravel" were placed in the
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. "Pea
gravel"was then used to backfill in the annular space.
Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred approximately 24 hours prior to the day of
percolation testing. The depth of water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the
boring.
6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
After the 24-hour soak period, the presaturated holes were found to be intact and dry on the
day of testing.
--44
902 Industrial Way•Lodi,CA 95240•209.367.3701 •Fax 209.369.4228 ©2007 Neil O.Anderson&Associates,Inc
