San Joaquin County Community Environmental Setting,Impacts, and Mitigation Measures
Development Department Agricultural Resources,Land Use,and Planning
Park, the Tracy Sports Complex, and Robert Kellogg Park. These parks are
located approximately 8 miles north and west of the site.
The project site is located adjacent to the Delta-Mendota Canal. However, the
canal is elevated above the project site and is approximately 20 feet west of the
project site boundary. Operation and access to the canal would not be affected
by the implementation of the Project.
Because the Project includes construction of perimeter fencing and berms along
+' Koster and Blewett Roads, as described in the project description, trespass onto
or from the site is not expected to be a significant issue. The Project is not
anticipated to disrupt a natural or recreation area, affect access to waterways,or
r allow trespass onto surrounding land. Therefore this impact is considered less
than significant. No mitigation is required.
Impact LU-7: Affect the Potential Use, Extraction,
Conservation, or Depletion of a Natural Resource other
than Agricultural Land (No Impact)
The proposed Project involves the extraction of known mineral resources(rock,
y" sand, and gravel),identified and classified as MRZ-3. The MRZ-3 classification
is intended to be used to identify mineral resources so they can be included in the
local planning process and be made available for future use/extraction. The
r classification of a mineral resource does not require mining of the resource; it
only identifies areas of sufficient deposit to warrant conservation for future
use/extraction. The proposed Project would not decrease availability of the
mineral resource as could be expected if the site were developed with a
residential subdivision or a retail development;rather, it would further the
extraction of known mineral resources in the area and would then return the land
s to agricultural uses upon conclusion of mining activities, consistent with the
existing and planned land uses of the area. There would be no impact. No
mitigation is required.
r
r
r
r DeSilva Gates Quarry Project
Draft Environmental Impact Report 3.6-15
AS 05105.05
