San Joaquin County Community Environmental Setting, Impacts,and Mitigation Measures Development Department Public Services and Utilities Delta Charter High School Delta Charter High School is located adjacent to New Jerusalem Elementary. Enrollment is in excess of 200 students in grades 9-12(Delta Charter High Schoo12004). Rising Sun Elementary School The Rising Sun Elementary School is located approximately 3 miles east of the project site in Stanislaus County. This elementary school is part of the Patterson Unified School District and is a small two-teacher school with a total enrollment .. of 44 students for the 2003-2004 school year(Patterson Unified School District 2005). Libraries and Parks and Recreational Facilities There are no existing public libraries,parks,or recreational facilities on the project or within the immediate project vicinity. The nearest facilities of these types are located within the City of Tracy. The Tracy Branch Library is located L approximately 10 miles northwest of the project site. The nearest regional park facility, Mossdale Crossing Regional Park(San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation Department web site),is located southwest of Lathrop, approximately 12 miles northeast of the site. The City of Tracy has several community and neighborhood parks, including William Adams Park,the Tracy Sports Complex, and Robert Kellogg Park. These parks are located approximately 8 miles north _ and west of the site. Maintenance of Roads The project site lies in southwestern San Joaquin County,northeast of the intersection of Interstates 5 and 580 and south of the City of Tracy. The site is bounded by SR 132(Vernalis Road)to the north,Koster Road to the east, Blewett Road to the south, and the Delta-Mendota Canal to the southwest. s Blewett Road bridges the Delta-Mendota Canal just south of the property,crosses Interstate 5 to the west, and then bridges the California Aqueduct. Bird Road, which also bridges the California Aqueduct,parallels Koster Road on the ' opposite side of Interstate 5 at approximately the same distance from the freeway. The Federal Highway Administration oversees maintenance of Interstate 5. Vemalis Road(SR 132)is a California state highway,and its maintenance is the responsibility of the California Department of Transportation.
