Freeway Weaving Segment Operations: Table 40 presents the projected weaving operation between the
I-5/SR-132 and SR-132/Bird Road interchanges. The first segment(referred to as Location 1 in Table 40) _
is the weave on westbound SR-132 between the southbound I-5 direct off ramp to westbound SR-132 and
the westbound SR-132 off ramp to Bird Road. The second segment(referred to as Location 2 in Table 40)
is the weave on eastbound SR-132 between the Bird Road on ramp and the eastbound SR-132 direct off _
ramp to southbound 1-5. As shown in Table 40, all design alternatives weave sections are projected to
operate at LOS "D" on westbound SR-132 during the AM peak hour and LOS "D" on eastbound SR-132
during the PM peak hour. —
TABLE 40
SR-132 BETWEEN I-5/BIRD ROAD INTERCHANGES WEAVING OPERATIONS _
YEAR 2027 PLUS PROJECT LEVELS OF SERVICE(LOS)WITH 4-LANE FREEWAY
WITH SR-132/BIRD ROAD INTERCHANGE, ALTERNATIVES 1 THROUGH 3 _
_ AM Peak Hour PM Peak Hour
Number of Basic Number of Basic
Number oi'I,anus{N) Number of Lancs(N) —
Weaving Lanes(NB)in LOS Lanes(NB)in LOS
Se ment Weavin Section to W'caving Sectiun Weaving Section m Weaving Section
Location 1 2 3 D I3
Location 2 2 3 A 2 3 D
Leisch Method(HDM,Figure 504.7A)
Weaving section calculations under year 2027 plus project conditions were also evaluated within the I-
5/SR-132 freeway-to-freeway interchange. As shown in Table 41, all weave sections are
projected to operate at Levels of Service "C" or better during both the AM and PM peak hour periods
with the exception of LOS"D"projected during the PM peak hour at Location 2.
TABLE 41 _
I-5/SR-132 INTERCHANGE WEAVING SECTIONS ANALYSIS
YEAR 2027 PLUS PROJECT LEVELS OF SERVICE(LOS)
AM Peak Hour PM Peak Hour
Number of BasicNumber of Basic Number of Lanes _
WeavingLNB m Number of Lanes(N) LOS Lanes NB N in WeavingLOS
Lanes( ) in Weaving Section ( )m ( )
Segment Weaving Section Weaving Section Section
Location 1 3 4 B 3 4 .A
Location 2 3 4 A 3 4 D _
Location 3 3 4 A 3 4 C
Location 4 3 4 A 3 4 C
Leisch Method(HDM,Figure 504.7A)
Ramp Junction (Merge/Diverge) Operations: Table 42 presents the projected Bird Road on ramp
merge with westbound SR-132 and eastbound SR-132 off ramp diverge to Bird Road for all three —
interchange design alternatives.
