2
• Condition 1.u.: This condition shall be revised to read: x
Install three monitoring wells to a depth of ten feet below the invert elevation of the Delta-
Mendota Canal. A registered engineer or geologist shall design the monitoring wells. The
wells shall be located between the Phase 1 sedimentation ponds and the Delta-Mendota
canal for monitoring of any shallow perched groundwater. The applicant shall monitor water
levels quarterly to ensure that if a zone of saturation forms beneath the canal, it does not
rise to a level higher than the invert of the canal. The quarterly monitoring reports shall be
sent annually to the Development Services Division of the County Community Development
Department, and include recommended corrective actions, if necessary. Such monitoring
wells are not required if sedimentation ponds are maintained below the invert elevation of
the Delta-Mendota canal or the California Aqueduct.
• Dike: A registered engineer shall design the proposed dike. The dike shall be designed in
such a way that no more than fifty (50) acre-feet of water is stored against it and a minimum
of three (3) feet of freeboard is provided. The design of the dike shall be reviewed and
approved by an independent engineering or geo-technical firm selected by the Community
Development Department. Said review shall be at the expense of the applicant.
A site visit conducted May 3, 2000 revealed that the proposed dike has already been
constructed without benefit of review, approval, and permits from this and other responsible
departments and agencies.
KL:vb
Qx961 RADC
