KLE/NFELOER
V fll9MFropk.NyM1tSONieom.
`- periodically monitored for several parameters including pH, conductivity, and
temperature. Copies of the purge logs are included in Appendix B. Prior to sample
collection, the sample ports were cleaned with a Liquinox solution.
The water samples were collected in laboratory grade sample containers, labeled,
logged on a chain-of-custody, and placed in a cooler with ice prior to transport to the
laboratory by courier under chain-of-custody control.
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Each of the water samples collected was analyzed for boron, calcium, magnesium, iron,
potassium, sodium, alkalinity, hardness, pH, specific conductance, total dissolved
` solids, chloride, nitrate, orthophosphate, sulfate and silicon by EPA methods. The
samples were analyzed by California Laboratory Services (CLS) of Rancho Cordova,
California. CLS is certified by the State of California Department of Health Services
(DHS) to perform the requested analysis.
_ FINDINGS
DTW in the wells has been measured and recorded since 1999 (with the exception of
` DW-2 which was measured back to 2001). The attached Table 1 summarizes these
measurements by Kleinfelder and others.
.. The DTW in DW-1 (215 feet), DW-2 (158 feet), and DOM-1 (161 feet) was consistent
with previous measurements in each of the wells.
The results of the laboratory analyses of the samples collected during the 2011 annual
monitoring event and previous monitoring events at the site are summarized in attached
Table 2. The laboratory analyses of the groundwater samples collected from the wells
(DW-1, DW-2, and DOM-1) showed generally consistent results compared with previous
monitoring events at the site. In addition, the analytical results indicate similar water
quality between the monitoring locations. For details of the analyses conducted and
laboratory quality assurance controls, please refer to the laboratory reports included in
Appendix A.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Kleinfelder recommends that Knife River continue the annual collection of groundwater
►. elevation data and groundwater samples for laboratory analyses from available wells in
accordance with San Joaquin County requirements. Kleinfelder also recommends
sending a copy of this report to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board.
` 29131.E01/ST012R014 Page 2 of 4 January 17, 2012
Copyright 2012 Kleinfelder
IV
