I i CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND ASSUMPTIONS This proposal and the attached cost estimate is based on the following assumptions: - I • The client will provide Kleinfelder with formal authorization for the proposed work. • Adequate work space and access will be provided by the client. • DSS will provide equipment and operators if necessary for access and adequate work space for the drill rig within the proposed areas. • Kleinfelder is not responsible for the site safety of others. • Soil and/or water generated during the sampling will be the responsibility of the client_ The drill cuttings and water generated will be left on site and will not be contained. • It is assumed that the three existing irrigation/production wells to be sampled have operating pumps and sounding ports and that groundwater samples will be able to be obtained without plumbing modifications. If well-head modifications are necessary additional costs will be incurred on a time and materials basis. • If necessary, potential sampling and recommendations for shallow water monitoring near the settling basin and Delta Mendota Canal and the California Aqueduct will be done on a time and expense basis. • This proposal is based on the presumption that DSS will clearly mark utilities and will provide any and all available survey maps or other data to determine the location of tanks, existing structures, underground utilities and services. • The client should be aware that penetrating the site's surface is inherently risky. It is i impossible to determine with certainty the precise location of all structures (such as septic system tanks or leach fields) which may be buried in the ground. Kleinfelder's fee is not adequate to compensate for both the performance of the services and the assumption of risk of damage to such structures. Underground Services Alert (USA) at 1-800-642-2444 provides a partial location service free of charge for major utility lines. It is important I that the client understand that subsurface structures (such as the septic systems, irrigation lines, and leach fields) buried under private property will not be marked by the public utility companies contacted by USA.
