X ,
4
9.a.
The application materials do not specify a haul route or indicate
the anticipated number of daily truck trips associated with the
project. It is likely that trucks will travel on Koster Road to
Vernalis Road/State Route 132 and access Interstate 5 at the State
Route 132/1-5 interchange. The EIR prepared for the Teichert
Aggregates Quarry Excavation (QX-91-5) , directly west of this
project, noted that SR 132 is already operating at an unacceptable
level of service between I-580 and Koster Road and that trucks
hauling aggregate materials will likely accelerate deterioration of
the roadway structure of SR 132 and- other area roadways.
10.
Excavation will significantly impact any archaeological resources
that may exist on the site. No records search or site
reconnaissance has been done of the project site to determine if
there are or are likely to be cultural resources on the site. l
12.
The processing plant will be approximately 40 feet above grade and
will be highly visible from surrounding properties, including
Interstate 5. The excavation itself may also be visible from
Interstate 5.
14.
The project is located within an area containing significant
aggregate deposits and, thus, several other aggregate operations.
Given the existence of other aggregate operations, there are likely
emulative impacts relative to the following: traffic, air
to be c g
P
quality, biological resources, and visual/aesthetics.
16.a. 10 b. , C. , do
As discussed above, the project is likely to have significant
impacts in the following areas: geotechnical/earth resources,
biological resources, noise, air quality, cultural resources,
traffic, and aesthetics. It is also unknown if the 88-acre pit
floor can realistically be reclaimed to row crops or other
agricultural uses.
Initial Study - 10 - QX-96-1
