Gilton Resource Recovery
Food By-Product / Feed Production Site
Odor Impact Minimization Plan
Attachment No. 3
GILTON RESOURCE RECOVERY
FOOD BY-PRODUCT / FEED PRODUCTION SITE
ODOR IMPACT MINIMIZATION PLAN
Introduction
This Odor Impact Minimization Plan (OIMP) has been developed to provide
instruction and guidance to on-site personnel employed at the Gilton Resource
Recovery Food By-Product / Feed Production Site located at 12067 S. Lammers
Road, Tracy, California ("Site"). It covers issues dealing with the handling,
storage, processing and removal of food by-product, commodities and feed
materials. This OIMP will be revised as necessary to reflect significant changes
in the design or operation of the Site. A copy of revisions will be provided to San
JoaquinCounty within 30 days of any changes. In addition, this OIMP will be
reviewed no less than once per year to determine if any revisions are necessary.
Basic Process Description: Materials destined for the Site are identified,
weighed and documented at the Gilton Resource Recovery / Transfer Facility,
Inc. located at 800 S. McClure Road, Modesto, California (GRR). Loads are
classified by inbound commodity type, hauler, customer and point of origin. An
initial screening takes place at the scale house to determine if there are any
potentially unacceptable materials, then additional load checking takes place at
the unloading areas.
At this stage the by-products that have high moisture content are preprocessed.
Water and free liquids are extracted using both gravity drainage and mechanical
equipment (rotary screw press).
After preprocessing, the commodities are trucked to the Site. Upon arrival, the
materials are quickly unloaded and thinly spread on the designated paved surfaces.
The materials are solar dried and are turned frequently to accelerate the dehydration
process. Once dried, the commodities are stockpiled briefly prior to removal. At this
point the material can be shipped to end users (animal feed) or to our site in Stockton
for further processing, milling, packaging and shipping.
O1MP
Page 1
2012-126 Attachments Attachment No 3-OIMP 12--06-20.doc
