Facility Overview
Wellhead Power,LLC will operate a 49 MW generating unit, nominal, near Pacific as
&Electric's Tesla substation site. The acreage for the proposed generating ficility G
used for farming of annual crops. The placement of the facility has been chosen to
minimize negative impacts to the landowner's operations and for convenient
interconnection with PG&E's natural gas and electric transmission lines, which will both
be within approximately 250 feet of the project site. The generating unit, associated
equipment and buildings, and open space on the site will encompass approximately 1-5
acres and areas requiring protection and security will be enclosed with chain-link security
fencing.
It is expected that the generating unit will primarily operate during the period of June 1
through October 31 between the hours of 10:00 a.m-to 9:00 p.m, on weekdays-
However, depending on the power supply situation in California, the generating unit
could operate additional hours depending primarily on air permit 1mritations. The project
is expected to be in service for an initial three-year terra, and depending upon contract
and state peaking requirements up to eight years.
The generating equipment win consist of gas turbine generators; modular control
cabinets; associated ancillary equipment necessary to support operations of the gas
turbine such as lube-oil skids, water pumps, water tanks, emissions control rnonitoM and
a substation to increase the voltage from the generation voltage of 13.8 kV to the voltage
of the adjacent transmission he of 115M It is expected the primary generators will be
49 mw Pratt&Whitney Twin-Pac gas turbine generator with associated equipment, or
another equivalent natural gas fired turbine. The equipment selection when finalized will
comply with all necessary permitting requirements.
Environmental Considerations-,
Water Resotoces and Waste Water Disposal
Water will likely be used for one or two purposes, emission controland/or inlet-air
cooling. Actual water requnenients will be driven by equipment selection, but usage is
---
expected to be between 5 000 and 30,000 gallons lei' 1,0-houroperational day.ote at
some equipment requires the use of water to reduce emissions, and the high volume
water-use case would be due primarily to if such emissions controls are used. With an
expected 100 to 125 days of operations per year, water usage would be between 500,000
and 3,000,000 gallons annually,or less than%acre-foot. WaUbead will either permit and
develop a private well,or acquire water from the site-owner's well to serve this water
requirement. Should the need for wastewater disposal be present(none is currently
anticipated),necessary permits would be obtained before any discharge takes place.
Wellhead Power,LLC Page 3 0321/01
Tesla/Tracy Peaks Project
