The traffic and parking problems associated with the related pick-ups, and drop
offs, will cause an adverse impact on Lincoln Road as well as the sidewalks near
the front of the location. Presently, the only parking spaces at this residence are
in the driveway and the public curb in front. A request to reduce the number of
parking spaces should not be granted, especially since there are no real spaces
to begin with.
Vehicles that will be used by their customers to drive to the day care business
will stack up along the curb lines and cause undue hardship for the adjacent
residences. Residents will have to compete for parking spaces in front of their
own homes. This is wrong and it is ridiculous to allow this type of activity without
ample parking. There is a large elementary school and a church just a few
hundred feet to the east making Lincoln Road already congested. Adding this
use will make things much worse. It will be too dangerous to both drivers and
pedestrians. Allowing this use would be a contributing factor to an accidental
collision and/or injury occurring at that location. Expensive liability litigation
would be inevitable.
The tax paying and voting residents of this neighbor have worked long and hard
to maintain its quality and charm. We will continue to do so. Please do not allow
a money making venture by one applicant to affect the quality of life for the many
retired and active working people who live in this neighborhood. There are plenty
of more appropriate locations that need tenants that could be used for this
venture without trying to stuff it into what has been one of the finest residential
neighborhoods in our county. Any potential revenue gained by the County as a
result of the applicant's business would be miniscule compared to the damage
that would be caused to the public's trust in our County government. It is
expected that the Community Development Department and other County
officials protect us from improper property uses such as the applicant's.
I appreciate your time and consideration regarding this matter. Please notify me
regarding any public hearings on this project. Your assistance would be very
much appreciated.
Respectfully,
Thomas T. Morris
cc: San Joaquin County Supervisor Dario Marenco, 2"d District
San Joaquin County Planning Commission
