�V <br /> RELATED HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE PROVISIONS <br /> (C) Cooperatively supervises adoptive placements with a full- cc adoptive agency, <br /> but does not disrupt a placement or remove a child from a placeme . <br /> Private noncustodial adoption agencies shall be organized operated on a nonprofit basis. <br /> (11) "Transitional shelter care facility"mea any group care facility that provides for <br /> 24-hour nonmedical care of persons in need of onal services, supervision, or assistance <br /> essential for sustaining the activities of daily ving or for the protection of the individual. <br /> Program components shall be subject to pro am standards developed by the State Department <br /> of Social Services pursuant to Section 1 .3- <br /> (12) "Transitional ho . g placement facility" means a community care facility <br /> licensed by the department rsuant to Section 1559.110 to provide transitional housing <br /> opportunities to persons at ast 17 years of age,and not more than 18 years of age unless the <br /> requirements of Sectio 1403 of the Welfare and Institutions Code are met, who are in <br /> out-of-home placem under the supervision of the county department of social services or the <br /> county probation artment,and who are participating in an independent living program. <br /> (b) "Department" or "state department' means the State Department of Social <br /> Services <br /> i <br /> rX � <br /> "Director"means the Director of Social Services. <br /> CARE FACILITIES <br /> §1596.775. Child Care <br /> The Legislature finds and declares all of the following: <br /> I <br /> (a) There is a severe shortage of child care for schoolage children throughout _ <br /> California, with many schoolage children going home to an empty, unsupervised setting after <br /> school. <br /> (b) For nearly five years several counties have participated in a pilot program that <br /> allows for a family day care home to care for two additional children above the current number <br /> allowed pursuant to licensing regulations. <br /> (c) As part of the pilot program, a study was conducted by the Assembly Office of <br /> Research.
