Jhalli Property Page 6 of 11
Our Project Number: LE5090505
February 26, 2009
chemicals reportedly applied to the subject property, only those containing bifenthrin, methomyl
and permethrin are RUPs. The U.C. Davis Extension Toxicology Network (EXTOXNET) web
site" was consulted for additional information on these chemicals.
According to EXTOXNET, bifenthrin is an insecticide and acaricide which affects the nervous
system and causes paralysis in insects. It is very highly toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. The
U.S. EPA has classified bifenthrin as Toxicity Class II-moderately toxic. Bifenthrin is relatively
insoluble in water, so there are no concerns about groundwater contamination through
leaching. It's half-life in soil, the amount of time it takes to degrade to half of its original
concentration, is 7 days to 8 months depending on the soil type and the amount of air in the
soil.
According to EXTOXNET, methomyl is a broad spectrum insecticide classified as an RUP by the
EPA because of its high acute toxicity to humans. Methomyl is highly soluble in water, has a
soil half-life of 33 days, and its adsorption to soil particles is weak to moderate. Consequently,
methomyl has been identified as a potential groundwater contaminant.
According to EXTOXNET, permethrin is a broad-spectrum synthetic pyrethroid insecticide '
classified in all products as an RUP. This chemical is moderately toxic to mammals and birds,
but extremely toxic to aquatic species and bees. Permethrin is of low to moderate persistence in
soils with a half life of 30-38 days. In water half lives have been reported less than 2.5 days.
This chemical degrades rapidly in water and can persist in some sediment.
Water Supply and Sewa a Dis osal System
One d mestic well a tw)ag cultural wells are located on the subject property.
Th HD well and sep "c t files were searched on February 5, 2009 in an effort to o
copies of permits for any water wells or septic tanks on the subject property. Three permits
including pump and liquid waste permits were foundatthe EHD.
Copies of these permits are included in Appendix E flf this report.
3.1.6 Department of Oil, Gas, and-Geothermal Resources
i
The California Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) well map W541-2
was reviewed for evidence of oil or gas wells on or in the vicinity of the subject property. No
wells are depicted within one-quarter mile of the subject property.
3.1.7 Site Reconnaissance
A visual reconnaissance of the subject property was conducted Fruary 10, 2009t'/
Photographs of the subject property are attached to this report as Appendix B.
is U.S. Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), June 2003, Restricted Use Products(RUP) Report.
" University of California, Davis, Extension Toxicology Network(EXTOXNET), http://extoxnet.orst.edu/ghindex.html
'Z California Department of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources, well map W5-3.
902 Industrial Way•Lodi,CA 95240•209.367.3701 •Fax 209.369.4229 02009 Neil O.Anderson&Associates.Inc.
