F
ted that the property will continue to be farmed in almonds into the foreseeable future.
n well will continue to provide irrigation water for the orchard barring an unforeseen
ater policy.
3.0 IDENTIFICATION OF ALL PAST AND
CURRENT SOURCES OF POTENTIAL CONTAMINATION
§3.1 The information to complete this report was obtained through direct observation during site
reconnaissance, local, state and federal government agency consultation, historical aerial photo
survey, an Environmental Questionnaire by the owner's representative -Mr. Tim McIsaac of
Agriculture Industries, and an on-site interview with the farm manager- Mr. Mike Rodoani. The
Haertl Family Limited Partnership has owned the property for the past 27 years. This can be
considered a relatively significant length of ownership time for knowledge of the subject property.
§3.2, §3.3 As evidenced by the attached photographs, the property contains three above ground
storage tanks (ASTs). A diesel fuel tank is located within the storage block masonry building and
situated on a concrete floor, as seen in Photographic Plate I. This storage shed is properly labeled
for emergency response personnel. A second, wheeled AST is used as a nurse tank for water r
storage, as illustrated in Photographic Plate M. The third tank is an empty, stationary tank located
directly behind, or to the north of the old milk bam, as seen in Photographic Plate N. It appears
this tank was the wash water reserve tank
The entire acreage was driven around to survey for evidence of surface and/or subsurface
contamination.—Agrichemical:to a is done in a properly marked storage building, as
referenced. Two empty barrels surrounding soil staining)were observed on the east side of
the Ag storage building as"iI ustrated in Photographic Plate E and F. Other containers observed
were empty plastic oil containers at the Agpy4l, although there were no soil staining and plastic
containers within the Ag storage building. Noe idence of solid or liquid waste disposal was
observed.
The land surface was carefully inspected for environmental concerns on mg from discolored,
disturbed/subsided soils, stressed vegetation or unusual/noxious odors None f these
environmental indicators wer within the growing almond tr gs on any of the bare
soil surfaces. There w ~ oil stainin of the concrete floors within the aforementioned
buildings. However, since the floors are concrete, no environmental hazard should exist,
An important concern associated with the environmental assessment of open properties is the
issue of buried containers or discarded items. It was an occasional practice to dispose of
containers or discarded items by this method many years ago. To detect these types of
underground artifacts is difficult even with the use of ground penetrating radar or other types of
non-intrusive, subsurface analyses.
Page-4-
Chesney Consulting
