k'q KLEINFELDER
An emIpi ,2,owned company
File No. 20-4585-O1.G01
December 6, 2001
Mr. Bruce Van de Steeg
Sierra View Animal Hospital
144 S. Davitt Avenue
Oakdale, CA 90274
Subject: SOILS SUITABILITY AND NITRATE LOADING STUDY ADDENDUM
PROPOSED OFFICE BUILDING
25650 LONE TREE ROAD
ESCALON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Van de Steeg:
In response to questions raised by Mr. Mike Huggins with the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services/Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) earlier today, the address of the property
where the water sample was taken for DBCP and Nitrate testing is 25744 East Lone Tree Road.
This parcel is immediately east of the project site and contains a rice drying and storage facility.
As described in our letter of November 21, 2001, the 3.5-foot deep percolation test had standing
water remaining in the hole after pre-soaking and was judged to be non-percolating. The soil
profile encountered at the project site was similar to that at the Lone Tree Estates project at Lone
Tree and Campbell Roads, just east of the subject site. The shallow percolation tests
(approximately 3 feet in depth) failed at that location, as well. Accordingly, based on the tests
performed on the project site and extrapolation of soils data from the nearby project, it was
determined that the deeper percolation tests would control the septic system design.
This completes the scope of work requested. Our work was performed in general accordance
with the standard of care that exists in San Joaquin County. No other guarantee or warranty,
expressed or implied, is made.
Respectfully submitted,
KLEINF ER, I
ote is Department Manager
GH :m
2013585-O1.G01/201 IR831 December 6,2001
©2001 Kleinfelder,Inc.
