l
h'qKLEINFELDrER
An e....A,,.,,,d company
31
File No. 20-4585-O1.G01
November 21, 2001 (revised)
Mr. Bruce Van de Steeg
Sierra View Animal Hospital
144 S. Davitt Avenue
Oakdale, CA 90274
Subject: SOILS SUITABILITY AND NITRATE LOADING STUDY
PROPOSED OFFICE BUILDING
25650 LONE TREE ROAD
ESCALON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Van de Steeg:
Kleinfelder is pleased to present the results of our soil suitability and nitrate loading study for the
proposed office building to be located near Escalon, California. The purpose of our study was to
determine the suitability of the property for septic tank usage. The study was performed in
general accordance to the requirements of Section 9-10100© of San Joaquin County Ordinance.
The following includes background information regarding the proposed development, present
use of the site, and the historical groundwater depths in the project area. In addition, discussions
regarding our investigative procedures and the site conditions encountered during our field
exploration and the results of percolation tests are presented. Finally, the results of our nitrate
loading calculations and project limitations are provided.
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
On a preliminary basis, we understand the subject 1.13-acre project site will contain an
approximate 2,400 square foot office building, equipment storage area, and stormwater retention
pond. At the time of our visit, the site appeared to have been rough graded and had no
vegetation.
We anticipate that waste disposal for the office building will be provided by an individual on-site ARA
sewage disposal system consisting of a septic tank and leach trench disposal field. We anticipate
that disposal trenches may be cut deep in order to intersect suitable percolating soils or shallow
leach lines will lead to seepage pits for disposal of effluent.
HISTORICAL GROUNDWATER DEPTH
According to groundwater reports published by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and
Water Conservation District (Spring 1994 to Spring 1999), high groundwater in the project area
has been recorded at depths in the range of about 75 to 90 feet below ground surface.
20-4585-Ol.GOI/201 IR602 November 21,2001
©2001 Kleinfelder,Inc.
