Log on to CERS at http://cers.calepa.ca.gov to make a <br /> hazardous waste submittal on the CERS website. Be sure to include any other relevant activities and required fields <br /> in the Business Activities section in CERS. For assistance, please contact Toby Morelli at tmorelli@sjoehd.com or <br /> (209)468-3421. <br /> This is a repeat violation, Class II. <br /> 301 CCR 66262.34(d)(2)Facility not maintained to minimize the release of a hazardous waste. <br /> Oily used absorbent was found in the secondary containments of the two 80-gallon used oil tanks inside the shop. <br /> Facilities shall be maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion,or release of hazardous <br /> waste to air,soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately clean the <br /> oily absorbent in the secondary containments of the two 80-gallon used oil tanks,and manage according to Title 22 <br /> hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was <br /> managed. <br /> This is a repeat violation, Class 11. <br /> 403 CCR 66262.34(d)(2)Failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed except when adding or removing hazardous <br /> waste. <br /> At the time of inspection,the following containers were found open on the west side of the shop while waste was not <br /> actively being added or removed from the containers: <br /> -5-gallon bucket of used absorbent <br /> -55-gallon drum of used antifreeze <br /> All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. Immediately <br /> close these Containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding or removing waste. <br /> This is a repeat violation, Class 11- <br /> 601 CCR 66262.34(d)Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days. <br /> Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg of waste <br /> stored on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days.The 5-gallon bucket of used absorbent lacked an <br /> accumulation start date.Also, at the time of inspection, Pha Cham, a mechanic, stated that the used oil in the drum <br /> beneath the oil filter crusher and in the drum beneath the oil filter drain, is left to collect in the drums until the used <br /> oil is picked up by the disposal company.The drum beneath the oil filter crusher and the drum beneath the oil filter <br /> drain lacked accumulation start dates. Since it cannot be determined how long the hazardous waste has been on <br /> site, immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest.
