The dewatering pumping proposed system is to drill 100 temporary
dewatering well ' s around the proposed excavation, to aid in lowering the
static table. The wells will be drilled to 7O' depths, set commercially
slotted casings, place clean washed pea gravel and set 2% horse power
pumps in each well . The wells will be located 150 feet outside the
quarry perimeter . The water will be discharged through our existing
storm and irrigation easement to the San Joaquin River or pumped over
the levee within our property boundary to the San Joaquin River . (See
location map and water tests for water quality in Appendix "B") This
includes ground water tests from well #60 and #160 by Geoanalytical
Laboratories plus San Joaquin River Semi -Annual report by City of
Manteca WQCF Monitoring Data 1999, located 100 ' South of Union Pacific
Railroad Crossing of the San Joaquin River . These tests show that the
ground water is of a higher quality than the river water and discharge
of this water into the river will not degrade existing water quality .
5 . 4 Biological Resources
5 .4 . 1 Wetlands
NONE
In a survey of watercourses in the excavation area, no evidence of
defined banks or beds was found
Drainages have been evaluated for potential U . S . Corps of Engineers
(COE) jurisdiction under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 USC
1344) . The total area of these natural features is estimated to be
less than an acre with none occurring in the proposed excavation area .
None may be judged "waters of the United States" subject to COE
jurisdiction
5 . 4 . 2 Tree Conservation
San Joaquin County has promulgated an ordinance to protect certain trees
in the county. Chapter 9-1505 of the County Development Title addresses
removal , replacement , and other requirements germane to Native Oak
Trees, Heritage Oak Trees, and Historical Trees as defined in the Title .
Blue oaks are among the species which may be categorized as the
foregoing if minimum trunk diameter requirements are met . No Protected
Trees exist on the site. Accordingly, no significant impacts will occur
due to tree conservation requirements .
Landmark Lathrop Group, LLC
3 - February 3, 2000
