Storm water
will be either diverted around disturbed areas or confined within the
quarry pit . Electrically driven pumps will be utilized to move storm
water from the open quarry to holding ponds used to settle out fines
from the washing plant . Storm water will then be used in the washing
of sands, clays and silts thereby reducing the amount of groundwater
required to supplement process water
5 . 3 . 2 Groundwater
Depth to shallow ground water beneath the property is 16 to 20 feet .
Most wells in the area are drilled to a depth of 200-300 feet
The entire area around the project site is a saturated formation of
undifferentiated sand and clay . Groundwater migration is to the
northwest and San Joaquin River . Recharge and discharge areas ,
horizontal/vertical inconsistencies in the types and location of
subsurface clay layers, and proximity to active wells can influence this
flow locally and regionally .
Landmark Lathrop Group, LLC
_ 2 - February 3, 2000
