VI. SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
rOne test hole was excavated to a depth of 3.5 feet in the area of the
homesite. The purpose of the test hole was to determine percolation rates in this
area. For approximate location of the test hole, see the Tentative Parcel Map in the
Appendix. The hole was prepared in accordance with County Standards.
F Soils lithology in the general area of the test holes consisted of a loam. As a
l. 1 shallow percolation test proved adequate for a conventional septic system, no
further soil exploration was necessary.
`' A copy of the Soils Classification Map prepared by the U.S. Department of
Ag Soil Conversation Service is included in the Appendices. Their map classified
the soils as Columbia fine sandy loam. Due to the classification, there should be no
`.4 potential problems or special engineering required on future septic systems.
FOne percolation test was performed in a hole with 8 inch in diameter by 42
y inches deep backfilled with 2 inches of gravel. The one hole was filled with water
24 hours prior to running the test. The test hole for Parcel 1 was performed under b 3
a 4 hour test. The last half hour of the test reading for Parcel 1 was witnessed by
a County Health Official and the test data obtained is enclosed in the Appendix.
Parcel Number Percolation Rate 6"o
1 15.00 minutes/inch
VII. GROUNDWATER
A Groundwater test was performed on the water faucet located by the office
building on the adjacent property (A.P.N. 091 -350-04). The well was tested for
nitrates and DBCP. The samples were taken by Mike Toy of Dillon & Murphy and
L,. driven directly to Precision Environ-Tech. Water was taken from the faucet at the
office. The results from the test can be found in the Appendix. The results did not
yield any reason for concern regarding ground water in the area.
VIII. CONCLUSION
4 ' Based on the results of the percolation tests and the soil profile, it is Dillon & cv, -)
Murphy's opinion that the existing homesites resulting from the proposed parcel
split of the subject property are suited for a typical on-site sewage disposal system. C(o•a)
The proposed system however, should be properly designed and installed
according to the current San Joaquin County criteria.
F.
2
f C:10210717921 N.
