The Highway 99 East Frontage
Road cannot handle another 360 students converging on the adjacent site at the
exact same crucial times of day.
Mokelumne River School begins classes for 7-8th grades at 8:00 a.m. and for K-
6th grades at 8:15 a.m_ A few children are dropped off earlier at 7:00 a.m. for
child care, but the numbers are low in comparison with the school population.
School is dismissed at 2:45 p.m. for K-61h and 3:00 p.m. for 7-8`h grades. Traffic
starts to form in "car-line" down the M.R.S. driveway and out onto the frontage
road at 2:30 p.m.
I do not know what start and dismissal times the Charter School plans to have,
but it would seem prudent to stagger the times if the schools are to be placed
side by side to ease traffic congestion,
In the parents' opinion, a traffic study should be done. The only problem Is that
our school ended for the summer today and will not be in session again until the
end of August 2001, so the accuracy of a study done in the months in between
would be a complete misrepresentation.
Please notify me of any public hearings or meetings regarding this application
and/or the issues mentioned therein. My address is given at the top of this cover
letter. I assume that the school administration will be notified as well.
Sincerely,
CT& "W—
Cyndi Ola gar,
President, Parent Teacher Club
