Past Uses of the Site
Based on information reviewed for the Surface & Subsurface Contamination Report
(Live Oak, 2014), the Site has been used for agriculture since 1940 or earlier. It
appears that the house on the Site dates to 1963 or earlier.
Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
According to the tentative parcel map (Monte Seibel, 2014), one septic system is
currently located on the Site to serve the house.
Proposed Septic System
According to Mr. Mathfallu, a new house will be constructed on Parcel 2 of the Site; the
new house will require a septic system.
On-Site Septic Permit History
One septic system permit for the Site was identified at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department. The permit, dated April 1971, is for an addition of
100 feet of leach line to the existing residential septic system. A copy of the permit has
been included in Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems that exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property.
Aerial imagery from GoogleEarth was used. Each building cluster on the photograph
was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that 47 or
more septic systems per square mile are present in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists agricultural, rural residential, and commercial/light industrial
properties. Within the mile area inspected, a winery is located to the west, a church to
the south, two food processing facilities to the east, and a mobile home park to the
north.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a recent review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, it appears that the septic
systems in the area utilize leach lines with sumps, filter beds, or seepage pits. The
septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
LOGE 1422 Page 2
