Date: July 20, 2007
To: San Joaquin County Community Development Department
From: City of Stockton, Community Development Department, Planning
Division, Permit Center, 425 N. EI Dorado Street, Stockton, CA 95202,
(209) 937-8266
Subject: City Community Development Department Response to San Joaquin
County Referral — PA-0700321 (SA) (Pre-application)
Project Description: A Site Approval pre-application for a highway construction business
that includes an existing 20,000 square foot building and a new 2,500 square
foot mechanics shop.
Stockton General Plan Designation: Low/Medium-Density Residential
Recommendation: Denied. The Planning Division is opposed to the pre-application for
the Site Approval application (PA-0700321) to permit a highway construction business at
3291 South State Route 99 West Frontage Road, because the proposed use is
inconsistent with the site's Low/Medium-Density Residential General Plan designation.
More specifically, the proposal is inconsistent with relevant General Plan goals and policies
regarding the development and placement of residential and industrial uses. Finally,
development of the site with an urban (industrial) use should occur within the City and be
subject to the provision of full public services.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this application.
BARBARA C.
