Analysis
Background
The site is currently occupied by a personal storage company (A-1 U-Stor). The applicant, A-1 Stor, LLC,
submitted Site Approval Application No. PA-03-601 for an off-premises (billboard) sign. The sign is
proposed to be (50) fifty feet high and a total of 672 square feet. The proposed sign meets all San
Joaquin County Development Title requirements and is consistent with the San Joaquin County General
Plan. The Site Approval application has been referred to the Planning Commission because the City of
Stockton Community Development Department is recommending that the Site Approval be denied.
City of Stockton Community Development Department
In a letter dated April 26, 2004, the City of Stockton Community Development Department recommended
denial of Site Approval No. PA-03-601 because the proposed sign is inconsistent with the City's
Low/Medium-Density Residential General Plan designation for the site. In addition, Stockton Municipal
Code Section 16-130.3.0 prohibits off-premises signs from locating within 300 feet of any residential
zoning district.
No other opposition to the proposed sign was received.
San Joaquin County PA-03-601W-1 Stor-All
Community Development Page 3
