M KLEINFELDER
SOIL SUITABILITY AND NITRATE LOADING
PHASE 1 & 2 ADDITIONS
STOCKTON BAPTIST CHURCH
STOCTON, CALIFORNIA
L.
1. PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
We understand the church plans to expand their existing facility in two phases. The first phase
will include the addition of 1,320 and 2,160 square foot modular classroom buildings, the(3 )
larger of which will include two bathrooms. A new leach field will be constructed south of the
bathrooms. Once Phase 1 has been completed, we understand the school will enroll a
maximum of 100 students who will attend classes 5 days a week. Of the current students that
attend the school, we understand that about 25 to 30 percent currently use the cafeteria for
lunch. The remaining students bring their lunch from home. A similar percentage of students
are anticipated to use the cafeteria once Phase 1 is complete. The facility will employ up to 10
staff/faculty.
We understand that the existing church building has a maximum seating of 130 people and the
building is used on two occasions each week. The church does not have a kitchen, and church
use of the school cafeteria is not anticipated. A separate existing leach field serves the church.
For the purpose of our phase 1 nitrate loading calculation, we have estimated the average
waste/sewage flow per day over a typical one week period for both the existing and proposed
new leach fields as follows:
School (Assume 30 percent of students will use cafeteria)
(70 students x 15 gal./day x 5 days)/7 day week = 750 gal./day
` (30 students x 25 gal./day x 5 days)/7 day week = 536 gal./day
Day Workers
(10 workers x 30 gal./day x 5 days)/7 day week = 215 gal./day
L Church
(130 seats x 5 gal./seat x 2 days)/7 day week = 186 gal./day
TOTAL = 1,687 gal./day
r_
Phase 2 will include additional modular classroom buildings that will increase the school's
enrollment capacity to150sttud. Again, according to Pastor Kihithau, only 25 to 30 percent
of these students will use the cafeteria for lunch. The remaining students will bring their lunch
from home. The facility/staff will remain unchanged at 10. Also included in this phase will be
a sanctuary/auditorium building that will replace and be used in the same manner as the
•, existing church. The new sanctuary will have a maximum occupancy of 299 p22 12-1e. A
drainage basin will also be constructed about 210 feet east from the propose new 1each field.
We understand that the Phase 2 additions will use the proposed new leach field for a period of
Ir about 2 years. At this time, we understand the church anticipates being serviced by the city C3"
L
40141.GOI/ST04R206 February 24,2004
©2004 Kleinfelder,Inc. Page I of 7
