carried. Each"rig"is operated by either a one or two-man crew, depending upon the type of
fumigation to be done. After completing the day's work, the crew returns the rig back to the
facility, normally in early afternoon, to resupply it for the next day's work and then parks it for the
night. Typically, personnel are at the facility for about thirty minutes in the morning, and, for
about forty-five minutes in the afternoon. This activity is at a peak level between August and
November(until wet weather sets in), when an average of about three rigs will be operating per
day. Occasionally, a fourth or fifth rig may work out of the facility. During the rest of the year,
activity slows considerably. In bad weather(rain, high wind, cold/wet soil conditions, etc.), there
is no such activity. During these times, and, when soil fumigation work is slow, there will be
equipment servicing and repair work done in the shop. There will be no major repairs to
equipment (replacing engines, brakes, etc.) at the facility. Instead, this type of work will be sent
out to local truck and tractor dealers and repair shops.
In addition, there will be about twenty-five deliveries of fumigation materials to the facility each
year. At the peak of the soil fumigation season, this may create about four or five truckload
deliveries per month. For most of the year, there may be less than one delivery per month. About
twice per week, local vendors may deliver miscellaneous supplies such as welding supplies, diesel
fuel, on-site tire repair. About one-third of the employees may car pool to and from the facility in
groups of two or more per vehicle, while the rest travel singly.
As part of the soil fumigation procedure, most farmers do not want our tractors to bring another
farmer's soil to their property. The reason is that foreign soil may contain weed seeds or plant
diseases. Therefore,we need to wash mud and dirt off the tractor's tracks and tool bar, before
we enter their farms. We do this by washing the tracks and tool bar with hot water. For this
purpose, we have included a concrete pad on which to park our tractors for washing. We will
dispose of the water and mud on-site, because it contains no oil, grease or pesticides.
2) Employees/Customers per work shift.
During the most active soil fumigation season(August through November),we may have an
average of about three soil fumigation rigs working out of the facility, with an occasional fourth
or fifth rig, during peak workloads. Each rig is operated by a crew of one or two people.
Therefore, the average number of employees working out of the facility between August and
November will be about five with a maximum possible of about ten. During the rest of the year,
the average number of rigs operating out of the facility may be less than one per day,but could
range between zero and four. During the months of December through July, there may be two to
six people on the facility between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., doing minor equipment repairs and
servicing. Occasionally, during this period, there may be no one at the facility, because the
fumigation crews are taking vacation or working somewhere else in the state. In the future, we
may have a clerical person on-site to handle occasional direct sales of prepackaged fumigants.
But, we have no current or planned need to do so.
3) Materials or equipment used.
2
