State of California The Resources Agency of California
Memorandum
Date August 24, 1995 i 'a
To Resources Agency
Project Coordinator 121995
Attention: Nadell Gayou '"'*N/TY
PLANNING ENT p
From Department of Boating and Waterways
ON EPT
Subject: SCH 95082038
The Department of Boating and Waterways has reviewed the above mentioned
document and would like to offer- the following comments:
Although the docks will be added to an area that has existing similar docks (for
house boats) on the Calaveras River, the project applicant should address the possible
impact that there may be concerning the installation of these dock additions.
Some suggested areas of possible impact that the applicant should address are:
1) will the docks and pilings be installed from land or by water from the
navigable channel?,
2) if the construction is done from the navigable channel, will there be any
need to advise either area boaters or transient boat traffic of the presence of
construction barges, dredges, or pile driving equipment, which may limit
navigability?,
3) will there be a need to place waterway markers, such as buoys, signs, or
lights, etc.. to advise boaters of the presence of construction activities,
restricted activities, restricted navigability (during or after construction), and
4) will the finished docks allow at least as much navigational clearance as the
existing docks? If not, how will the restricted channel clearances be
mitigated?
If you have any questions regarding these comments, you may contact Mike Sotelo
at (916) 322-1823.
John R. Banuelos
Director
--"--4 bcc: Mike Snreln
