These maps were used to determine the general depth and flow
direction of regional ground water(Plates 2 through 5). Table 2 summarizes all the available
ground-water information collected for the site and nearby area.
Table 2.
Summary of Available Ground Water Information.
Date,Description,Source Groundwater Depth Notes
Fall 1998, San Joaquin County Ground Greater than 100 feet in depth. The unit comprising
the Pliestocene alluvium consists of distinct alluvial terraces and some alluvial fans and
abandoned channel ridges. It consists of tan and light-grey gravelly sand, silt, and clay. The
("1 Modesto was deposited by streams still existing today because the deposits, for the most part,
Cly\ border existing streams.
The surface and near surface soils located on the site are reported to be Boggiano clay loam and
Finrod clay loam(Plate 7).2 Table 3 presents an excerpt of some selected engineering properties
' San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, 1999, Depth to ground-water map
and ground-water elevation map for Spring and Fall 1998.
