The Division monitors farmland conversion on a <br /> statewide basis and administers the California Land Conservation <br /> :RAY D A V i s (Williamson) Act and other agricultural land conservation programs. We <br /> G 0 V E R N 0 R offer the following comments for your consideration regarding the project's <br /> potential impacts on Williamson Act and agricultural land. <br /> Project Description <br /> The Application is a proposal to excavate rock, sand and gravel over a 12-year <br /> period from 81 .26 acres ofagricultural land enforceably restricted by <br /> Williamson Act contract(s). The project site is located at 27865 East River <br /> Road (APN 247-230-09) on the northeast corner of River Road and Harrold <br /> Avenue, southeast of Escalon, San Joaquin County (County). Compatible <br /> uses on contracted land must meet requirements of the contract, the local <br /> governing body and the Williamson Act. We recommend that the County <br /> conduct an Initial Study to determine the potential impacts of this project and <br /> whether an Environmental Impact Report is required.
