Neighborhood Opposition The Community Development Department has received two letters and a petition from neighbors opposed to the proposed project. The neighbors expressed concerns about the potential for increased noise, traffic and air pollution. They also expressed concern about the effect on farmland in the area. The Department of Public Works reviewed the project and determined that the traffic generated by the project is not sufficient to require a traffic study, and the potential traffic impacts are less than significant. An acoustical study was required to determine whether the quarry site would expose residences in the vicinity to noise levels that would exceed the requirements of the Development Title. A mitigation measure was identified in the acoustical study to reduce potential noise levels to less than 65 db Ldn at the property line of the proposed site. The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District(SJVAPCD) reviewed the proposed quarry and determined that the project represented a less-than-significant impact on the ambient air quality. Additionally, the quarry will be required to comply with SJUAPC[}reegulations re_yarding fugitive dust emissions. An initial Study performed for the proposed quarry determined that there were no poten[iatty '---- significant effects on farmland in the area.
