D. SURFACE WATER, RAINFALL/STORM WATER FOR THE HOME RANCH,
ACAMPO RANCH AND BLOSSOM RANCH
SURFACE WATER-HOME RANCH
Surface water storage structures at the Home Ranch as denoted on the attached Site Plan consist of
one primary unlined tailwater ditch, a secondary unlined tailwater ditch, two concrete-lined
irrigation ditches, one primary unlined irrigation conveyance ditch, three manure separation
(settling) basins and one holding pond (lagoon). Surface water runoff from rainfall and/or
irrigation enters all of these structures. Although not part of the Home Ranch, a State Canal
referenced as Beaver Slough is located adjacent to the north property boundary. Irrigation water
that may or may not contain manure, cannot runoff and impact Beaver Slough since there is an
approximate 15-foot levee between the north end of the de Snayer Dairy cropland and this Slough.
SURFACE WATER-ACAMPO RANCH
Surface water storage structures on the Acampo Ranch include a primary holding pond to the
north of the facility, a primary unlined irrigation water ditch, tailwater ditches, and a
tailwater/silage liquor runoff secondary pond, at the south end of the facility near Acampo Road.
Manure from the northern corrals and calf pens can enter the primary pond. Surface water runoff
from rainfall enters all of these structures, while irrigation water runoff only enters the
irrigation/tailwater ditches.
SURFACE WATER-BLOSSOM RANCH
Surface water structures on the Blossom Ranch include a primary irrigation water conveyance
ditch that traverses north-south and tailwater conveyance ditches at the ends of the furrow
irrigated rows. Irrigation water is obtained from Hog Slough at the south end of the Ranch. A
tailwater pond is also located near the south end of the Ranch.
RAINFALL AND STORM WATER-HOME RANCH,ACAMPO RANCH AND BLOSSOM RANCH
The Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) Community Panel Number 060299 0110B and 0120B
illustrates the Home Ranch and the Blossom Ranch to be in Flood Zone A1; areas of 100 year
flood where the base flood elevation has been determined to be 8 ft MSL. The west side of the
Home Ranch is approximately 5 ft MSL and the east side of the Ranch where the containment
structures are located is approximately 8 ft MSL. The Acampo Ranch is in Flood Zone B; areas
between limits of the 100 year and 500 year flood. Figure 29 of the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration(NOAA), Atlas 2, Volume XI, illustrates the 25 year, 24 hour storm
isoluvials for the area of the three Ranches to be 3.0 inches. The average Mean Annual
Precipitation for the three Ranches is 15 inches, according to the San Joaquin County Isohyetal
Map. The following information illustrates the average rainfall data during the winter months to
determine Home Ranch holding pond capacity, taken from the NRCS Soil Survey of San Joaquin
County:
-6-
CheRwy Consufting
