TABLE 3
TOTAL RAINFALL AND EVAPORATION -.HOME,ACAMPO AND BLOSSOM RANCHES
MONTH RAINFALL IN INCHES EVAPORATION
(From CIMIS Zone 14)
December 2.93 Inches 1.55 Inches
January 3.34 Inches 1.55 Inches
_ February 2.55 Inches 2.24 Inches
March 2.61 Inches 3.72 Inches
* 25 year-24 Hour 3.0 Inches
Storm
TOTAL 14.43 Inches 9.06 Inches
E. NUTRIENTIWASTE PRODUCTION,NUTRIENT CONTAINMENT STRUCTURES,
NUTRIENT AND IRRIGATION WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM,AND TAILWATER
RECOVERY SYSTEM FOR THE HOME RANCH,ACAMPO RANCH AND BLOSSOM RANCH
NUTRIENT/WASTE PRODUCTION-HOME RANCH
The total volume of nutrient/waste produced at the Home Ranch to calculate 120-day volume
capacity of the storage containment structures, is as follows: The Total Animal Units are based
upon the proposed increase in Holstein milk cows from the current 1,100 to 1,800:
(2,992 Total Animal Units (See NIWMP No.2))(1.37 ft/day/AU)(7.48 gaUft)=30,661 gallons/day
30,661 gals/day x 120 days storage= 3,679,298 gallons. The separation basins theoretically remove
40% of the daily waste generated by volume:
3,679,298 x 0.60 =2,207,579 gallons of nutrient/waste into Home Ranch holding pond in 120 days.
NUTRIENT CONTAINMENT STRUCTURE VOLUMES-HOME RANCH
The nutrient containment structures on the Home Ranch consist of three manure solids separation
basins and a holding pond. The holding pond is 780 feet long, 170 feet wide (includes the
primary unlined irrigation conveyance ditch at the south end of the holding pond), and is
approximately 11 feet deep. There are six mechanical aerators in the holding pond to reduce
odors and greenhouse gases. Two separation basins, oriented north and south to each other, are 9
feet deep, 575 feet long and 65 feet wide. The floors of these two basins are lined with concrete
for efficient manure removal. A third basin located to the west of the other two basins is 8 feet
.., deep, 350 feet long and 30 feet wide. The holding pond and separation basins are reasonably
assured to be in compliance with meeting the minimum design criteria regarding the California
Code of Regulations as stated under Section 22562 (d), Subchapter 2, Article 1, Title 27:
- "Retention Pond Design- Retention ponds shall be lined with, or underlain by, soils which
contain at least 10 percent clay and not more than 10 percent gravel or artificial materials of
equivalent impermeability." This is based upon the soil structure at the south end of the
de Snayer Dairy facility consisting of a clay loam soil.
-7-
Chesney Consuking
