PA-0400756 OF LEEN AND PAULA DESNAYER <br /> (C/O MICROGY) (APN: 011-050-08) <br /> The applicant has submitted the above referenced Use Permit application to construct a manure <br /> digester(Accessory Use Type: Biomass Energy Production For Use On Premises) and feed dryer <br /> facility(Use Type: Agricultural Processing-Food Manufacturing). The project will include construction <br /> of a 9,600 square foot feed dryer building, a 400 square foot separator building and five tanks for <br /> digesting and storage. The dairy currently has 1,200 cattle. The digester-dryer facility will not <br /> increase the number of cattle. The dried feed will not be sold to the public and will only be used for <br /> cattle on the dairy or transported by truck for off site sales. The project site is located on the west <br /> side of Interstate 5, 1800 feet north of Peltier Road, northwest of Lodi. <br /> The General Plan designation for the project parcel is A/G (General Agriculture) and the current <br /> zoning is AG-40 (General Agriculture-forty acre minimum). <br /> Background <br /> Currently, the dairy has 1,200 head of cattle. Under the previously approved Site Approval <br /> application (PA-0300429) for an 8,000 gallon milking parlor, the applicant projected that the number <br /> of cattle will increase to 1,500 head by 2006. <br /> Existing Buildings <br /> • Seven residences(two mobile homes and five single family residences) <br /> • Two calf barns, three pole sheds, two free stalls, one hay barn, one equipment storage <br /> shed, one silo storage and one commodity storage barn. <br /> Employees and Hours of Operation" <br /> The dairy currently employs 12 workers. The applicant states that after the digester system is in <br /> place, the ranch would employ a maximum of 16 workers. The current hours of operation for the <br /> dairy are 24 hours a day, seven days a week broken down into three shifts. The applicant is <br /> proposing to operate the digester-dryer facility 24 hours a day as well <br />
