Also no vent pipes were seen from <br /> the access and service roads which indicated there were no under ground storage <br /> containers. Recent rains required that the property search be conducted from driving and <br /> walking portions of the access and service roads. It was impossible to walk in the rice <br /> fields or drive on portions of the access and service roads without becoming mired down <br /> and stuck in the mud <br /> Possible Se tic Contamination: San Joaquin County Public Health Services M <br /> Environmental Health Division records were .searched for septic permit applications. <br /> Fifteen (15) applications were studied and were requested between June 4, 1965 and <br /> October 10, 1992. Four (4) sump and seven (7) pit installations were installed. No leach t <br /> fields were installed The remaining four installations were for the installation of ; <br /> additional facilities consisting of one (1) sump and three (3)pit installations.. There were i <br /> no permit applications for repairing septic systems after their initial installation. <br /> The sump installations were constructed to a depth no greater than fifteen (15) <br /> feet and varied from a minimum width of two (2) feet to a maximum length of fourteen <br /> (14) feet. The pits were all constructed to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet with diameters <br /> varying from thirty-three(33)to thirty-six(36)inches. <br /> The four (4) additional sanitary facilities constructed consisted of one (1) sump <br /> and three (3) pit installations. The additionaVsumps were constructed to a depth no <br /> greater than twelve (12) feet with widths varying from a minimum two (2) feet and a <br /> maximum length of twenty-two (22) feet. Theadditional pits were all constructed to a <br /> depth of twenty-five(25)feet with diameters of thirty-three(33)inches. <br /> Three (3) of the permits listed the soil a5 clay town. Two (2) of the permits listed <br /> r <br /> the soil as clay. Two (2) of the permits listed the soil as adobe. One (1) of the permits <br /> listed the soil as hardpan. The remaining eight permits contained no mention of the soil <br /> type. <br /> The University of California publication entitled "Soils of San Joaquin County, <br /> California", by Walter W. Weir, dated June 1952, refers to the soil on this subject <br /> property as being either Madera Sandy Loam.or Alamo Adobe Clay. These soils are <br /> brown in color with good surface drainage and poor subsurface drainage. <br /> The"Soil Survey of San Joaquin County, California, United States Department of <br /> Agricultural Soil Conservation Service" issued'October 1992, lists the soil type on the <br /> subject property as `%Were-Alamo Complex" except that a small portion in the ! <br /> northwest corner may be Madera Sandy Loam. ;These soils are brown or grayish brown, <br /> respectively.
