San Joaquin County September 21, 1998
SA-98-59 Page 2
2. As many energy conserving features as possible should be included in the
design/construction of the new buildings. Examples include (but are not limited to)
increased wall and ceiling insulation (beyond building code requirements), energy
efficient lighting, high efficiency appliances and solar-assisted water heating.
3. Trees should be carefully selected and located to shade the building(s) during the hot
summer months. This measure should be implemented on southern and western
exposures. Deciduous trees should be considered since they provide shade in the
summer and allow the sun to reach the building(s) during the cold winter months.
4. Any gas-fired appliances should be low nitrogen oxide (NO),) emitting gas-fired
appliances.
5. Exits onto adjoining streets should be carefully designed to reduce time required to re-
enter traffic from the project site.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment. If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact me at (209) 545-7000.
Sincerely,
`)
, C'-•'1
acy Roe er Bettencourt
En ntal Planner APCD REF#980471
Northern Region
