The soil survey suggests that clayey surface soils may exist on the subject property since the neighboring soils are clayey. Clayey soils typically exhibit poor percolation properties and are often problematic for shallow trench septic systems. One "shallow"3-foot deep percolation test boring and one"deep" 25-foot percolation test boring were drilled adjacent to each other in the proposed septic system disposal field on May 1, 2003. No ground water was encountered during the drilling of either boring. The soil layers encountered in the"shallow"and"deep"boring consisted of the following: a dark to medium brown clay with some silt(0-13.5 ft),medium brown silty clay(13.5-19.5 ft), medium �. brown clayey fine sand(19.5-25 ft). The entire profile depth was hard drilling. The percolation test borings were 4.5-inches in diameter. For each of the borings, two inches of pea gravel was placed in the bottom of the holes. An open-ended 2-inch diameter PVC pipe wit slots on the bottom was installed into the hole and 1 to 2 feet of pea gravel was backfilled in t annular space. ♦ 'Y Z W O / 7,fSOL
