L
LFebruary 8, 2007
NOA Project Number: E06161A
4.0 GROUNDWATER INFORMATION
L 4.1 Ground Water Depth and Gradient
! The San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (1998 and 1999) ground
water depth and elevation maps were reviewed to determine the ground water levels near the Site.
The Fall 1998 and Spring 1999 maps are the most current official maps available from the County.
L According to these maps (Plates 3-6),ground water lies between zero and ten feet below ground
surface and flows at an indeterminate gradient.
L Groundwater was encountered at different levels on each parcel by the staff of Neil O.Anderson&
Associates, Inc. during the drilling of groundwater borings on December 14,2006. Depth to
groundwater on the site ranged from a foot and a half(1.5) to approximately five (5) feet below
j ground surface. See Table 5 for parcel specific depths to groundwater.
L
4.2 Potential Ground Water Contamination Issues
I
6' Identifying potential ground-water contamination sources was not part of the scope of work for the
soil suitability study. Potential gtound-water contamination can occur from a number of sources
which often include leaky underground storage tanks, agricultural activities, dairies, septic systems,
and storm water infiltration. Agricultural activities and the use of septic systems in the area should
be considered potential ground-water contamination sources. Please see section 4.4 for additional
Lwater quality details-
1 4.3 Water Sample Location
L According to Dr. Robinson, there is one domestic well on the subject property associated with the
labor camp. No well permit was found during a file search on January 15,2007.
LA water sample was taken by Mr.Jessen Welch of our office on December 14, 2006 from the spigot
of the well on the subject property.
L4.4 Water Sample Constituents
The water sample was analyzed for nitrate and DBCP. Nitrate was not detected in the water sample.
L The maximum contaminant level (MCL) set by the US EPA is 45 mg/L-NO;. DBCP was not
detected in the water sample. The analytical reports prepared by FGL Environmental can be found
Lin the appendix of this report
The presence of nitrates is not uncommon in shallow ground water aquifers in San Joaquin County
Land other parts of the Central Valley. Nitrate in ground water occurs as a result of the application of
4
l
6. '-44
L
