i - -
Agency Response'
The Community Development Department received a letter from the City of Lodi's Community
' Development Department. The letter states:
"This location is one of the major 'gateways' into the City of Lodi...Because of the prominent
location of the property and the possibility that it could be a part of the City at some future date,
the City of Lodi is requesting that adequate consideration be given to the overall appearance of
the proposed project. We are requesting that the design guidelines that were approved for the
Flag City commercial area would be a good starting point for the design and landscaping of the
project."
• In response, the Community Development Department does not regulate or oversee
the architectural design guidelines of permitted structures. There is an approved
Special :.Purpose Plan for Flag City (PA-0700226) that contains design guidelines.
These design guidelines do not impose specific architectural features; they do require
necessary landscaping, screening and lighting of a project within Flag City. Projects
outside of Flag City are not subject to the Special Purpose Flan of Flag City. However,
consideration is given to the appearance of the proposed project because landscaping
of the parking lot and street frontage, screening of storage areas, proper lighting and
preservation of existing oak trees are required as Conditions of Approval.
San Joaquin County_.
