- Mar . 2. 2005 10:02AM N DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION No . 3351 P. 3/4
Mr. Funderburg
February 28, 2005
Page 2
shall be submitted using Metric Units. However, dual units may be used for activity
and work in the right-of-way costing$1,000,000 or less, or by an exception approved
by the Director. The preferred method of delineating dual units is by showing the
English unit first then the Metric unit next to it in parenthesis. The Permit Department
and the Environmental Planning Branch will review and approve the activity and work
in the State right-of-way before an encroachment permit is issued. Encroachment
permits will be issued in accordance with Streets and Highway Codes, Section 671.5,
"Time Limitations." Encroachment permits do not run with the land. A change in
ownership requires a new permit.
• Future development of this property may include commercial activities. Therefore, if
direct access to this site is from the state highway, the Department will require
commercial standards for each driveway serving a corrimcrcial use. Any new
driveways as well as existing driveways shall be built or upgraded to current state
standards. Where applicable any sidewalk, curb and gutter, or ramp shall be in
compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The standards are available
from the permit engineer for your county.
• No water from the proposed project shall flow into the State right-of-way without
approval from the District Hydraulic Engineer.
• Advertising signs within the immediate arca outside the State right-of-way Dccd to be
cleared through the Department's Right-of=Way Division, Office of Outdoor
Advertising. The project proponent must construct and maintain the advertising signs
without access to the State Route. Contact Susan Swenssen at (209) 948-7869 or(209)
948-7641 for additional information or to obtain a sign pen-nit application. Additional
information on Outdoor Advertising Pen-nit requirements may also be found on the
Internet at www.(lot.ca.gov/hq/oda.
• The Department has determined that this project will contribute to cumulative impacts
the SR-1.2 mainline. Therefore, the Department recommends the collection of impact
fees on a "Fair Share" basis for future improvements to this facility.
• We suggest that the county continue to coordinate and consult with the Department to
identify and address potential cumulative transportation impacts that may occur from
this project and other developm.exi.ts near this geographical location. This will assist us
in ensuring that traffic safety and duality standards are maintained for the traveling
public on existing and future state transportation facilities.
YJahrans improves mvbilily aauss California"
