Box 611 Lodi, CA
(209) 334-2332
September 26, 2002
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health
Attn: Ray Borges
RE: New Winery For:
Joe Berghold
821$ East Hwy 12
Lodi, Ca
Per your request regarding clarification of the building use, the following letter will
discuss this project in order to address your concerns. This project is a multi-phase project
as described below:
Phase I Convert an existing ag storage building into a winery process and barrel storage
building, This building was constructed under permit approximately two years ago. A
floor drain system was installed during the original construction, which drained to an
above ground storage tank. This phase is currently in your department for approval.
Phase 11 A tasting room and additional barrel storage within a new building. This will
be the "show place" and trademark for the Berghold winery. This phase will begin spring
2003.
Your specific concern was regarding the floor drain system in the existing ag storage
building, and if vehicle maintenance would occur at this location. The surrounding
vineyards are maintained by a local contract farmer, who keeps his equipment maintained
and stored at a remote location. Berghold winery does not own any farm equipment. The
area with the floor drains will be used exclusively for wine processing. There will be no
vehicle maintenance in this building, or on this parcel.
Sincerely,
W is No C 45 z
r
- 6
Michael W, Smith
RC.E.
