V INIEE YARDST
Waste Management Plan
8751 Fast Highway 12,Victor CA
Previous Use:
This facility has operated as Dole Fresh Fruit for three business applications.
1. Fruit Packing
2. Cold Storage
3. Cherry Brining
The facility also handles it's own storm run-off needs. For a 300,000 sq. ft. facility this could
add up to 10,000 to 15,000 average gallons per day during a wet month.
WildRose Vineyards will continue the cold storage facility and the brining facility. We will
however curtail or totally eliminate the fruit packing facility and replace it with a winery. This
report will summarize the effect of that change.
Fruit Packing facility waste.
This facility currently produces both liquid waste, solid waste and sewage(from
restrooms).
Liquid waste is primarily produced from two sources.
A) The first is hydro-coolers. These produce 9,500* gallons at peak use which is
during the months of May and June. There is spillage, and they must be drained
every night.
B) The second is wash down. This produces 4,000 gallons at peak use which is
also the May-June period. This is produced by the physical wash down
machinery and work space for sanitation purposes. It is carried out throughout
the day whenever packing is in progress.
Solid waste is produced from fruit culled or dropped. These are disposed of through Cal-
Waste. The amount varies but has no impact at this facility, since it is removed.
Sewage is produced from the restroom facilities. These facilities are designed to handle
well over 75 employees. It is disposed of in the septic fields noted on the plot plan. The
use of these facilities is corollary to the packing activity at the plant.
Cold Storage: Water is produced from defrosting the cooling elements. There are no good
numbers on the amount of water produced by this but it is a safe guess that it is not more than
1,000 gallons. This is clean water.
Brine Facility: This is the other major source of effluents. Approximately 5,500 gallons are
produced in the brining process which has it's peak in the June through early August season.
This will continue unchanged in the planned facility.
WILDROSE VINEYARDS, 1924 Colette Street,Lodi California 95242
(209)339-0102 (209)339-0110 fax wildrosevineyards.com
