PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS
SS 6.2. To assess the permeability at the prescribed depths of the on-site soils, the three
afo ntioned percolation test borings were completed in the locations depicted on the Site Plan
found in Appendix C.
SSS 66 ,,-' After drilling the perc test borings, the sidewalls of the borings were scored with a pry-
bar to open potentially smeared sidewalls. Two inches of fine gravel was placed at the bottom and
three-inch perforated PVC pipe was inserted in each test boring. After this, each boring was pre-
saturated with 12 inches of water(except for the 24 inch boring which was pre-saturated with 24
inches of water) -24 hrs prior to the start of testing.
SSS(6:4,0. On March 13, 2015, percolation testing commenced at 0730 hrs. No standing water
was observed after the 24-hr soak period in any of the test borings. Consequently, EHD Perc Test
Procedure#2 were conducted for the test borings. Testing was done over a four-hour period to
induce maximum soil saturation. Only the 36-inch test boring is recognized as "official" by EHD.
The test results indicate identical perc rates of 25.0 min/in rate for the 24 and 48 inch test borings and
35.7 min/in for the 36 inch test depth after complete soil s ation. The water level was not refilled to
the starting level for the last 30 minute test, which slowed percolation. This illustrates the effect that i
head pressure has on soil permeability. A summary of the perc test results with corresponding
application rates in gallons of effluent accepted per square foot of soil per day are illustrated in Table 2:
T.aMA' 2
PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS WITH CORRESPONDING
APPLICATION RATES IN GALLONS /FT /,PAY
36 INCH DEEP PERC TEST BORING 35.7 min/inch / .467 gallons/ftZ/day
PERCOLATION RATE/APPLICATION RATE
OFFICIAL PERC TEST
Page -3-
