C. PRESSURIZED FILTER BED SIZING CALCULATIONS
Base Tank Capacity (BTC)= 1,200 gal. The anticipated maximum daily flow of 300 gallons may
occur on any given day of the week, 365 days per year. There will be days where no wastewater flow
occurs. This ADF parameter is unknown. However, the calculations are based upon the 300 gals
ADF occurring seven days per week, 365 days per year.
Leachline Equivalent Requirement= 1,200 gallons BTC +300 MAX ADF x 0.250 clay Soil Factor
(SF)=375 lineal feet of leachline (LFLL) required. 375 x 4 (Clay Soil - Filter Bed Soil Factor) _
1,500 sq. ft. filter bed area required. Due to area constraints, a double depth filter bed will be
constructed and increased in area to 14 ft wide by 57 ft long= 798 sq ft (1,600 sq ft). The total depth
of the filter bed will be 39 inches as illustrated on the Project Plans.
D. DESIGN AND OPERATIONAL SPECIFICATIONS OF THE PRESSURIZED
DISPOSAL SYSTEM
Pump Chamber to Filter Beds: The second compartment of the third (last) septic tank will be the
pump, or dosing chamber for the filter bed. Orenco BioTube® ProPackage Filter Pump Vault PN:
BPP20DD with Duplex Effluent Pump System: PN: PF200511, !/2HP,20 gpm, 120 Volt
contained within BioTube Pump Vault. Total effluent volume can be calculated by checking pump
cycle times on the panel and also to ensure both pumps are distributing effluent equally.
Laterals for the Filter Bed: Sch. 40 PVC 1.0" nominal diameter, 1/8" orifice directed at 12 o'clock
with orifice shields, 5.0 ft spacing and 57 ft long. The N-S width is to be 14 ft. "Turn-ups" are to be
installed at the ends of each lateral for clean-out, and contained within valve cover boxes.
Monitoring of the Filter Bed: Monitoring of effluent shall be with two monitoring/inspection ports
within the filter bed area, as noted on the Plan View of the Project Plans. Monitoring/Inspection
tubes: 4" PVC Tee at soil/effluent interface with 4" riser extending above the soil/grass surface,
with a screw type cap.
The parameters and calculations for the pressurized system are found in Appendix G.
Page -10-
