Statement of Planned Site Improvements:
The planned site improvements are to grow from the current cow herd population to the optimal cow
herd population that the property will accommodate. The growth is planned in two phases.
Cattle Growth chart:
Type of Cow Current 2001 Phase 1 2001-2002 Phase II 2003-2004
Lactating Cow 1,375 1.600 1.600
Dry&Bred Heifers 950 950 1,106
Heifers 242 242 282
Calves 968 968 1,127
Totals 3,535 3.760 4,115
Construction Phases:
Phase I (2001-2002) deals with parcel #55-130-01 where the milk facility is. A new state of the art
milking parlor will be built and the remaining half of the third freestall barn will be built.
Phase II (2003-2004)deals with both parcel #55-130-01 where the milking facility is and parcel#55-
140-07 where the heifer facility is. A new heifer feed lane will be built at the heifer facility. To
accommodate the addition of heifers, there will be improvements to the manure management system. A
second settling pond will be built at the milling facility. Its capacity will be 2,674,226 gallons, which
with the capacities of the existing three settling ponds of approximately 4,125,000 gallons, will total
6,799,000 gallons. The projected capacity required at this facility based on 180 days of storage for
manure effluent. 2,860,586 gallons.
Refer to Effluent Calculations, Appendix IV.
®Western Design/David Avila 2001 5
