: Design and Specifications
F ADDITIONAL OPERATIONAL ASPECTS
The batch treatment process proposed is based on a time-proven, patented design previously
owned by the Bio-Pure division of Aqua-Tech, the parent company of Culligan Water Co.
Northwest. In early 1990, the Bio-Pure company.was acquired, and is now solely owned, by
AquaClear Technologies, Inc.
4 The Bio-Pure system is an extended-aeration, complete-mix process with a low food-to-
microorganism ratio causes the digesting microorganisms to become extemely competitive for
food, thus reducing the amount of sludge produced. A complete technical description of the
i process with flow schematic is included in this documentation.
f
In summary, the system works on the basis of aeration, clarification, sludge recycling, disinfection,
filtration, and discharge. The reclaimed:water exceeds California Title 22 requirements for recrea-
tion and unrestricted irrigation, and may be used for any purpose except drinking.
The treatment plants are delivered to the installation site complete with all tanks, pumps, com-
pressors, and internal plumbing to ensure compatibility and proper sizing. All internal plumbing
and electrical connection boxes are included. All items of the wastewater treatment system are
warranted either by AquaClear or the purchased component`manufacturer.
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE y
The treatment system described is an AquaClear standard catalog item, Bio-Pure Model 50EFO.
Manufacturing and delivery time for the complete Bio-Pure system to the site is approximately 8
to 12 weeks. Installation time after receipt of the equipment at the installation site is approxi-
mately 1 to 2 weeks. Therefore, system startup can be expected approximately 10 to 14 weeks
after the order is placed and the purchase deposit is received by AquaClear. Installation, startup,
and operator training will be overseen by an AquaClear representative.
i y
Wastewater Treatment Plant Specifications
GENERAL 1
AquaClear Technologies will provide.one complete Bio-Pure Model 50EFO 5,000-gpd capacity,
secondary, complete-mix, extended-aeration, activated-sludge, batch-type waste treatment plant
containing all necessary internal process equipment for operation of the entire treatment system to
meet the performance requirement specifications outlined in the preceding design report.
The plant shall be constructed of fiberglass reinforced-plastic structures consisting of three major
modules: an aeration chamber, clarifier, and ozone contact chamber. Additional items of equip-
ment shall consist of one mixed-liquor transfer pump, two sludge return pumps, one supernatant
pump, one discharge pump, one buffer-tank system feed pump, internal plumbing, weir plumbing,
