Design and Specifications
through recycling. If test results indicate sludge volume in the aeration chamber is high, ex-
cess sludge must be removed from the clarifier per sludge-wasting procedures.
7. Disinfection. Disinfection is by ozone injection and recirculation in the ozone contact
chamber. This method provides better mixing and avoids short-circuiting. The ozonated
` supernatant in the contact chamber is held for a minimum period of 60 minutes prior to dis-
charge to the filters. Upon completion of the effluent discharge, the retained volume of the
contact chamber is returned to the aeration chamber for recycling.
8. Leel Sensors. Liquid-level float signals shall be provided by float-type mercury switches.
Where possible, these switches shall interrupt only low-amperage circuits. These circuits shall
operate at not more than 125 vac.
INSTALLATION
1. External Plumbing. Manufacturer's responsibility shall be limited to providing an external
4-inch flange connection to the aeration reactor input and a 3-inch external flange connection
to the output of the tertiary filter. All connection points shall be presized and located accord-
ing to AquaClearBio-Pure drawings for each tank-to-tank connection.
2. Factory Service. Provision shall be made for the services of competent, factory-trained
personnel for a specified startup and training period. AquaClear offers complete field-service
contracts on all Bio-Pure wastewater treatment equipment. The time specified shall be ade-
quate to fully check plant operation when sufficiently fed with influent to enable full-cycle
operation.
ADDITIONAL AERATION REACTOR SPECIFICATIONS
` There will be a reactor tanktop nonskid walkway to facilitate easy man access to all equipment in
the chambers. The customer shall be responsible for construction and installation of a stairway or
ladder to the tanktop.
1, Construction. Each aeration reactor shall be constructed of reinforced fiberglass to with-
stand maximum external and internal pressures by exterior ribs or equivalent.
2. Hatches. Access hatch openings suitably sized for removal of internal equipment shall be
laminated and attached to chamber tops. A cover shall be included for each hatch opening.
.. There will be six hatch openings.
3. Influent. Owner shall be responsible for providing influent piping into the influent fitting.
Influent fitting shall be 4 inches in diameter.
4. Weir. There shall be one clarifier surface sludge-return weir opening. The weir shall be
capable of properly transferring, by overflow gravity, the entire volume of return floatables
• without buildup inside the clarifier.
5. Mixed-Liquor Transfer. The aeration chamber shall contain one mixed-liquor transfer pump.
The MLT pump shall be mounted for easy above-tank access and removal. The MLT pump
13
V
