§ 3.4 Description of all past off-site potential and/or known above and below ground sources of
contamination identified in the area of the project site that has or may impact the project
site have been referenced above in Section 3.1. In addition, nitrate contamination of the
underlying groundwater may be a potential source of contamination due to the immense
amount of agricultural production in this region. The likelihood of DBCP contamination is
a possibility,but unlikely.
These two constituents will be tested for the Soil Suitability Study, to be completed for this
project. Soil data and information will also be provided in the Soil Suitability Study.
Agricultural spray drift(non-target) from surrounding production land may contribute to
above ground contamination of the subject property, although for relatively brief periods of
time. Long-term persistent agrichemicals, namely DDT is probably found in the on-site
soils, since it is found in virtually all San Joaquin Valley soils. Residual DDT that may be
present within the on-site soils poses an insignificant risk to human health, or to the
environment.
§ 3.5 Description of all current off-site potential and/or known above and below ground sources of
contamination identified in the area of the project site have also been referenced in Section
3.1. Future use of the project site will continue to be agricultural production, with the
application of agrichemicals. Protection of these residential structures from ground-applied
application of agrichemicals will be accomplished by spraying in the early morning hours
when there is typically no wind.
§ 4.0 EVALUATION OF PAST AND CURRENT SOURCES OF
CONTAMINATION IDENTIFIED AT OR NEAR THE SITE AND
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FURTHER ACTION
§ 4.1 Evaluation of each potential and/or known source of contamination identified in the above
Sections have been discussed in the respective Sections to facilitate the transfer of
information to the reader.
§ 5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
§ 5.1 Evaluation of each point source potential contamination described (i.e., concrete mixing
pad with air gap mixing, existing and future septic systems, the nearest leaking
underground storage tanks, on-site electrical transformers and de minimus items such as
fuel cans) and non-point sources (i.e., on-site and surrounding agrichemical application and
non-target drift, nitrate and possibly DBCP groundwater contamination, possible DDT soil
concentrations)pose a low-to- insignificant risk to the environment and to human health.
Page-5-
Chesney Consulting
