• Past Uses of the Site
Based on information reviewed for the Surface & Subsurface Contamination Report
(Live Oak, 2015), the Site has been used for agriculture since 1940 or earlier. The Site
has been used for asparagus, row crops, fodder crops, orchard, and vineyard. Most of
the structures on the Site date to the 1930s through 1960s.
Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
According to the tentative parcel map (Wong Engineers, 2015), one septic system is
currently located on the Site to serve the restroom building. Other systems are clearly
present, but their locations are unknown.
Proposed Septic System
Mr. Marchini indicated that no new construction is planned for the Site.
On-Site Septic Permit History
Three septic system permits for the Site were identified at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department.
• • August 1966 permit for new septic system at four-bedroom house. The system
utilizes a 1,500-gallon tank and three 100-foot leach lines. A well is depicted to
the east of the house (9000 W. Howard; location unclear)
• August 1968 permit for permit for replacement of 1,200-gallon septic tank and
60-foot leach line at one-bedroom house (9000 W. Howard; may refer to one of
the mobile homes in the southeast corner of the Site; shows a well and ditch
nearby).
• June 1980 permit for septic system at three-bedroom house. The system utilizes
a 1,200-gallon tank and three 60- or 90-foot leach lines. The permit indicates
that the domestic well is one-half mile away (9000 W. Howard). Based on roads
drawn in the sketch, this permit may refer to a location off-site to the east.
Copies of the permits have been included in Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems that exist within approximately nine square miles surrounding the property.
Aerial imagery from GoogleEarth was used. Each building cluster on the photograph
was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that four or
more septic systems per square mile are present in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
•
LOGE 1523 Page 2
